2014Mark Kent Sponsored a “White Coat Event” Encouraging Kids to Choose Careers in Medicine
This past weekend, Mark Kent sponsored a “White Coat Event” at a charter school to encourage kids to choose careers in medicine. The event took place at a downtown charter school in Miami on Friday, April 11th. Mark Kent; teacher Mona Phillips; Rimsky Denis, a 4th year University of Miami Medical student and 2013 scholarship recipient; Dr. George Simpson, a retired physician, and other faculty of the school put on the event.

The kids and faculty of the school really enjoyed it. Several students appeared interested in now becoming doctors and nurses. “Having them hear from physicians (both young and old) about the joy of medicine and to answer the kids questions was powerful and rewarding for them”, said Mona Phillips, a teacher who set up the event at her school approached Mark Kent to sponsor.
