2014Mark Kent & United Capital Management Scholarship Fund
Miami, FL, April 4, 2014: 24-7 Press Release
Mark Kent is known for many things–including his role as CEO with CAC-Florida Medical Centers, his success in being an entrepreneur, as well as his experience as an author of team building and healthcare related articles, and now a new forthcoming book about turning consumer experiences into Wow Moments. However, Kent is also active in the world of charity, namely through his foundation FOCUS – For Foster Children, which has successfully sponsored many foster children by providing school supplies and scholarships for their four year degrees at several universities. He explains that this charity has made a significant impact on the lives of foster children and their foster families. Kent is from a family of philanthropy. His uncle, Roland Parrish, also a Purdue University graduate, recently donated $2 million to Purdue University.
Kent’s family will set aside $1 Million to aid African-American and Hispanic students with Business or Nursing majors.
Today, Kent announces that his family will set aside $1 Million in a scholarship fund to specifically aid undergraduate African-American and Hispanic students with designated Business or Nursing majors at the University of Miami, Florida International University, and Purdue University. His goal is to ensure educational resources for future generations to tackle the very pressing issues facing healthcare today. Having witnessed firsthand what the power of business success can do for charity, Kent notes that it is important to look at the whole picture, rather than to simply quantify how great of results stemmed from the overall resources expended. As an executive with Humana, Kent is proud of the Humana Foundation, the charitable arm of Humana Inc. for the way in which it assists communities across the US.
